Summary:
Under minimal supervision, the Accounts Payable Specialist level 1 will carry out the day-to-day duties of maintaining the receipts and invoices from Shur-Lok vendors, perform ad-hoc accounting duties, and act as back up to the Accounts Payable Specialist Level 3.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Provide support in accounts payable
- Matching invoices with PO’s and/or receipts
- Printing POs for three-way match voucher pack assistance
- Verify validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from purchasing department and vendors.
- Maintain good relationships with vendors.
- Review Email / obtain mailed vendor invoices
- File check run information
- Scan packing slips and invoices

Other Requirements / Competencies:
Ability to concentrate on details and accuracy in execution of tasks.
Should be proficient in ten key adding machines and be computer literate.
Should be prepared to work extra hours if required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Familiarity with Accounts Payable is required.
Familiarity with a manufacturing environment and MAPICS system is a plus.
Proficient in Excel and Word applications.

Education and / or Experience:
High school degree required and training coursework in accounting preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
