JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Divisional Controller and is responsible for ensuring completion of month-end close, preparing monthly reconciliations to trial balance and preparation of financial statements for the KF Aerospace divisions excluding MRO and defense divisions. This is a “roll up your sleeves” position, which entails hands on liaison with operations staff, processing of transactions and preparing a variety of reconciliations for many of the entities. It includes ensuring the integrity of each company’s general ledger and developing documentation support for annual audited financial statements.
The Senior Accountant will also oversee recording & monitoring / reporting his/her companies’ daily cash balances and for preparing banking transactions for the Corporate Controller’s approval daily.
This role will require strong liaison with the MRO Controller and Business Systems Financial Controller. The Senior Accountant will also supervise the daily activities of the accounts payable and accounts receivable staff and ensure that their processes support all companies’ accounting needs in terms of completing month end activities accurately and within deadlines.

LOCATION
This role is based 100 on-site in Kelowna, B.C.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the following areas:
Operations Oversight:
- Liaison with the Flight Operations department and outside customers to prepare monthly invoices according to contract terms and to reconcile quarterly results.
- This role requires an ability to interpret contracts, provide revenue & pricing analysis, understand revenue recognition, manage operational costing, analyze fuel usage / costs, and coordinate invoicing and collections while maintaining financial / operational controls
Month end Financial Statement Processes
- Coordinate with other employees to ensure timely completion of the month end close and elimination entries where required
- Preparation of month end accruals, working papers and variance analysis
- Various ad hoc reporting, analysis
Financial Statements and Operating Reports
- Ensure reports are generated on time, accurately and completely according to internal policy and ASPE
- Assistance with annual audits; coordinating the organization of data and reconciliations to provide to the auditors
Daily Cash/Other
- Ensure balances, movements and wire transfer payments are accurately made and recorded on time
- Ensuring bank statements and visa statements are downloaded in a timely manner
- Assist with bank reconciliations
- Filling in and sending off vendor credit applications
- Approving customer credit applications
- Updating vendor/employee banking in the ERP
Budget Models
- Assist the Divisional Controller with budget models (including liaison with other departments / stakeholders) for primary companies (KFACL, RALI, RLGP)
Cost Awareness and Analysis
- Update operations staff on trends and cost patterns in the business
Liaison with the Finance Controllers
- Ensure corporate processes and rules are appropriately executed in the ERP system for all divisions
- Ensure segregation of internal controls are maintained
Other:
- Direct supervision of 3 Clerks.
- Stats Canada reporting.
- Other duties and accounting support as requested.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE or SKILLS
- Completion of CPA or a recognized accounting degree and pursing a CPA designation is preferred
- Min 5 years practical experience, with 2+ years of multi-company, multi-currency experience
- Aviation or cargo financial operations would be an asset
- Familiarity with EDI billing processes would be an asset
- Ability to quickly grasp and work with complex Enterprise Resource Planning software and report writing software
- Advanced excel skills are required

SALARY
The wage band is KF level 10, $77,000-$96,000 annually. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
