Position Summary
The Navigation Services Analyst will be responsible for meeting all requirements outlined in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)s Advisory Circular 90-101A or future updates, updating Ground Controls data to comply with JetBlue Operations Specifications (OPSPECs) and addressing potential operational impacts based on fleet equipage per airport by analyzing Flight Management System (FMS) and terrain database data. Additionally, the Analyst should remain informed about emerging technologies or developments, such as potential future issues with aircraft systems (e.g., interference with radar altimeters or other critical equipment), and be prepared to develop compliance processes if necessary. The Analyst of Navigation Services will assist the Senior Navigation Analyst in conducting monthly audits of the FMS Navigation Database (NDB) for JetBlues various aircraft fleets using a combination of vendor software applications and tools supplied by JetBlue for all aircraft FMS systems. The Analyst of Navigation Services is a technical role requiring blended experience of aviation navigation equipment, tools, and procedures, as well as data management and data manipulation using various scripting languages and tools. The Analyst of Navigation Services is an important role in JetBlue’s operational team, ensuring that the navigation information is distributed to the Pilots, Dispatchers, and Maintenance crew in an accurate and timely fashion.
Essential Responsibilities
- Meet all Required Navigation Performance Authorization Required (RNP AR) management requirements outlined in the FAAs Advisory Circular 90-101A or future updates.
- Understanding of FAA and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Operations Specifications affecting airline operations.
- Generate post quality assurance (QA) reports to include Route Validation reports, Braking Action reports, Change request lists, and RNP AR validation checklist (when needed).
- Assisting the Senior Navigation Analyst with conducting monthly audits of the FMS NDB, Terrain, and Electronic Checklist (ECL) for JetBlues various aircraft fleets utilizing a combination of vendor software applications and tools supplied by JetBlue for all aircraft FMS systems.
- Auditing the Jeppesen charting subscription against the NDB to ensure accuracy and availability of all necessary navigation tools, supports the communications and business partner relationships related to navigation and charting systems, design, and code the Navigation Database if necessary, using Terminal Area Route Generation and Traffic Simulation (TARGETS)
- Assist with the generation of various FMS database reports provided to other groups within JetBlue.
- Assisting in managing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
- One (1) year of experience with SQL
- One (1) year of experience with Python
- Working knowledge and demonstrated competency in database management
- Working knowledge and demonstrated competency with the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook with expert abilities in Excel and VBA
- Working knowledge and demonstrated competency in SQL
- Working knowledge and demonstrated competency in Tableau
- Working knowledge and demonstrated competency in Python
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10)
- Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in data or database management area of study
- Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument
- Two (2) years of experience with SQL
- Two (2) years of experience with Python
- One (1) year of experience in aviation or airline operations
- Working knowledge and demonstrated competency of Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator
- PANS-OPS ICAO procedure design experience
- Experience with Honeywell OneNav Tool & Rockwell-Collins NavDB is preferred
- TERPS procedure design experience
- Aviation charting experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong team building, Leadership, and interpersonal skills
