Role Summary

The Audit Data Analytics team are subject matter experts in data analysis and business intelligence for audit programs. We are a shared service, and we work in partnership with the Audit team to identify and visualize risk, highlight issues and discover opportunities that help drive Alaska Air Group (AAG) forward.

The Data Analytics Specialist DOE is a critical team member and works in a fast-paced, high-exposure team whose responsibilities include data analysis, data cleansing, modeling and research, optimization, project management, and solution design/delivery. The Analyst will be expected to independently execute analytics procedures, visualize and create dashboards and reports and blend data sources to provide critical insights to Audit teams. These data models will help teams assess the safety, risk and impact of processes, incidents and outcomes.

The team utilizes a variety of systems and technology to produce decision support tools that enable leaders and teams to take strategic action. You must be able to develop visualizations grounded in statistical best practices that facilitate effective communication (telling the story) of results and key findings to internal and external customers.

Key Duties

  • In the intermediate level P2, you will use solid understanding of analytics principles to analyze data, make recommendations for approach to problem solving and make recommendations through our 5 data workstreams – Audit Metrics, Continuous Monitoring, ERM, Dynamic Reporting and Audit Analytics.

  • In the senior level P3, as a subject matter expert in business analytics, you will apply deep knowledge and use considerable independent judgement to determine the approach to ambiguous challenges, exercise considerable judgement to make decisions and influence across the company.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

P2 Intermediate Level

Required

  • 2 years analytical experience or a related area.

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in mathematics, economics, finance, statistics, business, computer science, or technical/engineering, or an additional 2 years of training or experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of business intelligence functions, including analytics, data mining, reporting, report conversion, data cleansing, data modeling and relational databases.

  • Advanced SQL skills.

  • Demonstrated experience working with disparate data sources and data blending.

  • Adept at dashboard design, charting, and report automation.

  • Experience with applied statistics and probability.

  • Ability to work well with multiple, diverse teams.

  • Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

P3 Senior Level

Required

  • 4 years of experience as a business/systems analyst supporting enterprise level Finance Systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in Finance, Accounting, Statistics or Information Technology, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Thorough understanding of the business – both Audit Programs and the Airline.

  • Proficient in SQL and experience working with large data sets.

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of business intelligence functions, including analytics, data mining, reporting, report conversion, data cleansing, data modeling and relational databases.

  • Demonstrated experience working with disparate data sources, data blending, and advanced database functions (e.g., database management functions).

  • Expert in visualization techniques, dashboard design, and decision support tools; experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.

  • Modeling proficiency in cluster analysis and linear regression.

  • Proven conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficient in data query tools such SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), TOAD Datapoint, Alteryx, Access, Tableau, etc.

  • Passionate about business being done right with the ability to produce timely and accurate results.

  • A self-starter who takes ownership of their work and excels with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively manage multiple, concurrent tasks.

  • A strong disposition for customer service supported by excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

  • Willingness to learn from and return value to Finance stakeholders by working collaboratively with others and as part of a team.

  • Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.

  • Demonstrated project management experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary Range

$67,600-$129,600 / year

Pay Details

P2: Intermediate Level: $67,600 - $101,400

P3 Senior Level: $86,400 - $129,600

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
