What You Will Do
Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced environment, health and safety (EH&S) Professional, responsible for supporting all EH&S issues in day-to-day operations at our Carlsbad facility located in Carlsbad, California. This position will report to the site Sr. EHS Manager.
Responsibilities include:
Partnering with leadership team and line supervision to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations and adherence to P&W procedures and RTX EH&S Standard Practices, including CalOSHA’s PSM and Cal-EPA’s CalARP programs.
Identify health & safety hazards and controls to mitigate risks.
Coordinate corporate-wide programs, risk mitigation and injury prevention initiatives
Participate in pollution prevention / waste reduction initiatives and other programs related to environmental sustainability indicators, such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling.
Lead management of hazardous waste program
Work on cross-functional projects that interface with other groups external to and within the core EH&S team.
Provide timely information and guidance for the General Manager, Sr. EHS Manager and the site EH&S council and Sub-Committees, including EH&S performance trends and root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses.
Support development and implementation of strategic action plans to achieve the company goal of having a hazard-free workplace, injury-free employees and an unmatched commitment to compliance and sustainability.
Prepare and manage documentation relating to environmental policies in preparation for audits.
Lead projects to meet or exceed EH&S goals.
Provide documentation for permits and liaising with governmental bodies.
Manage consultants hired to assist with EH&S compliance.
Qualification You Must Have:
Previous experience in manufacturing settings, preferably in the aerospace or electronics
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
A Bachelors of Science Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience as EH&S professional with direct involvement with management responsibilities.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Proven strong communication, strategic leadership, technical, and interpersonal skills.
Proven skills working as/with a team to meet challenging goals.
EH&S Regulatory and management systems knowledge.
Working knowledge of OSHA PSM Regulations and specifically California OSHA PSM Regulations & Cal-EPA’s CalARP Program is preferred.
Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH. P.E. or CHMM.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
