Job Title: EHS Specialist
| POSITION SUMMARY: Assist the EHS Team in driving continuous improvement of the environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Responsible for developing and delivering engaging safety training programs. Assist the EHS team with the implementation of companywide safety campaigns and routine communications. Responsible for supporting Sr. EHS Manager and Sr. EHS Engineer in data collection of EHS records in accordance with applicable regulations.
Essential Job Functions - Maintain current knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Develop safety training programs (live and online) that meet all regulatory requirements.
- Conduct live safety training on a weekly basis for company new hires.
- Assist in maintaining up to date data collection for safety training recordkeeping.
- Prepare infographics, labels, and other EHS documents as needed.
- Conduct employee respiratory protection training and fit tests.
- Conduct employee forklift training and practical hands-on forklift training.
- Prepare monthly safety compliance folders and maintain records.
- Assist in hazardous waste management activities at the site to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Provide support to implement safety initiatives, corrective actions and maintenance work orders if needed.
- Conduct Safety and Environmental inspections and audits of the facility on a regular basis such as RCRA, AST, and Quarterly Stormwater Collection.
- Conduct weekly calibrations for the pH probes located at the lift stations and wastewater treatment system.
- Calibrate other safety equipment as needed.
- Perform periodic neutralization of wash tanks in accordance with the City Wastewater Permit.
- Assist the Sr. EHS Engineer in industrial hygiene sampling and developing reports as needed.
- Inspect and replenish safety equipment throughout the facility.
- Participate and attend Safety Mentor Committee meetings.
- Assist with investigation of safety incidents or near misses.
- Participate and attend Accident Review and Corrective Action Meetings.
- Assist the ergonomics committee in conducting meetings and assessments of high-risk tasks.
- Assist Sr EHS Manager and Sr EHS Engineer with implementation of company wide safety campaigns and communications.
- Active member of the spill response team.
- Active member of the first responder program and assist when nurse is not available.
- Provide safety related support to production as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Qualifications
| To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience Bachelor Degree preferred or other related Occupational Health and Safety Certifications. Initial and recurrent annual training in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response, and OSHA 10 Hour training required within 90 days of employment. Intermediate/advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Previous experience with implementation of hazardous waste regulations is preferred. Intermediate understanding of environmental compliance with air, hazardous waste, stormwater, wastewater, spill prevention is preferred. Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry requirements and experience in a manufacturing or industrial facility is desired. Attend EHS courses assigned to improve knowledge regarding EPA, OSHA, CERCLA, SARA and EPCRA regulation and standards. Must be able to pass Forklift Training and Skills Certification. Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime. Ability to work with minimal supervision. |

Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below. |

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to both office and plant environments. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity. Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives. Travel and overtime are required when necessary.
