Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking to hire an Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist in Burbank, CA.
The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will use established procedures and work under general supervision of the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. This role is involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and implements environmental, health and safety initiatives. Familiar with regulatory requirements, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the environmental health and safety field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Essential Functions:
Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety regulations.
Create, maintain, and update safety and environmental procedures/programs in accordance with applicable regulations.
Coordinate and conduct safety audits, safety committee meetings, incident investigations, ergonomic evaluations and emergency supply inspections.
Advise management and functional departments on incident-prevention and safety enhancements.
Coordinate environmental, health and safety training classes, schedules and programs.
Conduct new hire safety orientation.
Keep current with changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization and communicate them appropriately.
Assist with and coordinate industrial hygiene assessments.
Assist hazardous material evaluations, hazard communication and SDS database.
Conduct or coordinates storm water inspections and sample collections.
Assist in obtaining and renewing all required environmental permits.
Assist in hazardous waste management and recordkeeping including account billing.
Assist in preparation and filing of all reports required by permits and regulatory agencies.
Assist with hazardous waste transport coordination for proper removal and disposal of waste from site.
Identify and investigate methods to reduce hazardous waste by alternative manufacturing, materials, processes and recycling opportunities; Implement recommended changes.
Perform weekly site checks for proper storage, labeling, disposal of hazardous waste and materials and maintain inspection log sheets.
Participate on the Emergency Response Team.
Any other tasks assigned by the EH&S Manager or other management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
1-3 years of relevant environmental, health and safety work experience
Knowledge:
Excellent working knowledge and understanding of applicable environmental health & safety regulations, codes and standards including CFR’s, CCRs, OSHA, EPA, Cal-EPA, SCAQMD, CA Water Resources Control, DOT, RCRA and CUPA.
A basic understanding of industrial chemicals and their properties.
Skills/Abilities:
Ability to use Windows based suite of software programs including MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent communication skills
Willingness to investigate potentially hazardous situations
Demonstrated ability to conduct stand up presentations
Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external contacts.
Education/Certification:
Bachelors Degree required. Preferably in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineer/Health, or Occupational Safety and Health.
Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, Emergency Response, Powered Industrial Trucks, Fall Protection, DOT, HAZWOPER, CIH, CHMM are preferred.
Eligibility Requirement: This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Working Conditions
Working conditions can be indoor and outdoor in a manufacturing environments
Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, safety shoes, face shields, hearing protection, ESD jackets, heel/wrist straps, respirators and any other required PPE
May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, wet weather, confined spaces, dust or fumes, Chemical spills and or fire.
Monday-Friday (first shift), and willing to work overtime and weekends if necessary.

Salary range: $92,000 to $105,000. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
