Job Objective
The Human Resources - Employee Relations Specialist is responsible to support employees and management to help mitigate risks, promote best practices when it comes to employee experience, and ensure healthy, long-term relationships are built between the Company and its employees.
Essential Functions
- Provide guidance, support, and recommendations to employees and managers
- Compile and analyze HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS), management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors’ practices, and other sources in support of recruitment and retention efforts
- Prepare reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to management
- Research and report employment law and regulation updates to Director of Human Resources, suggesting updates to the Employee Handbook and State Supplement Handbook
- In coordination with the Marketing Department, research social media trends and assist with content creation for recruitment and employee engagement efforts
- Assist in writing, evaluating, and updating company job descriptions to include proper classification
- Complete and submit reports on a quarterly and annual basis including but not limited to EEO-1, OSHA, and internal reports
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and serve as the liaison between employees and managers
- Develop, implement, and foster initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and productivity throughout the employee lifecycle
- Assist with external recruiting efforts, including occasionally representing the Company at local career fairs
- Occasionally field employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
- Support the Designated Employer Representative - Drug and Alcohol (DER) with background and pre-employment drug screening when necessary
- Assist Director of Human Resources with special projects
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)
- Demonstrate strong business acumen

- Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws
- Ability to analyze systems, records, statistics, and surveys and generate reports with information obtained
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Strong organization and prioritization skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to a Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Applicant Tracking Systems, and Google Suite products
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or other related field
- At least (2) years’ experience in a Human Resources position
- Active affiliation with Human Resources networks and organizations preferred
- Aviation experience preferred
- Human Resources professional certification preferred
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Filing duties include light lifting, climbing, and squatting
- Possibility of prolonged periods of travel by ground and air
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times
Work Environment
- Temperature-controlled office
- Exposure to outdoor shops with potential extreme cold and hot temperatures and loud noises
Work Status, Schedule, & Travel
- Full-time
- Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
- Potential for travel, 1-2 times per year
