Position Summary
The Logistics Specialist provides a tactical interface between US operations, freight Forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, international affiliate locations and international suppliers for the purpose of ensuring continuity in our global supply chain.
Responsibilities
Provide routing instructions to US supply base for incoming materials under collect terms.
Provide freight quotes to internal teams (as necessary)
Arrange surface expedites and truckload carriage (as necessary).
Coordinate cross-border imports from Canada and Mexico working in conjunction with Global Trade Compliance and procurement.
Troubleshooting and daily event resolution for shipments in transit
Provide tracking and visibility data to materials planning, sourcing and plant leadership.
Maintain freight procure to pay cycle working with 3rd party payment contractor and contractor portal.
Establish and maintain strategic relationships with 3rd party logistics partners.
Manage freight claims (as necessary)
Responsible for reporting monthly metrics, freight adjustments and analysis.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Working knowledge of relevant governing regulations (US department of commerce, department of transportation, department of homeland security etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of global transportation industry including pricing, invoicing, document control and the various governing regulatory controls
- Familiar with SAP logistics, distribution, inventory, regulatory and order processing roles
- Proficient in MS office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
- 1-5 years experience in logistics, sourcing, or supply chain
Preferred
- Expert understanding of US import and export compliance
