Position Summary
The mission of a Planner/Buyer is to build and organize an efficient finite production schedule that maximizes production efficiency while minimizing raw material and work in process inventory, changeover costs and satisfies customer’s required dock dates.
Responsibilities
- Release and manage production work orders in accordance with MRP, Kanban signals, production plan goals and related planning data.
- Reviews production capacity requirements: Monitors the reports and ensures capacity is available to meet the production plan.
- Release and manage raw material orders through the MRP system as necessary to meet production schedule.
- Works with customer service personnel on maintenance of promise dates to the customer. Provide customer’s service maintaining the communication thru the systems set.
- Manage, monitor and update Kanban’s for assigned value streams
- Work with lean team on the continuous improvement process with the goal of visual planning
- Resolve inventory discrepancies or related to material flow in the processes, identifying the root cause and implementing corrective actions
- Manage of the open orders and expedite request with suppliers
- Support and take actions to manage inventory control on the materials assigned in order to achieve the Divisional metric.
- Manage PFEP/Finished good strategy with the Planning team working to ensure the LISC metric on A parts; ensure the analysis to set the proper strategies.
- Provide data needed for SOP process related their commodities.
- Ensure the production plans are aligned to sales and inventory goals.
- Lead metrics of LISC and DSI related their commodities; ensuring to keep processes to control the activities that affect this metric and driving to meet the company goals.
- Support to identify any potential risk on supply and work with Commodities Manager to mitigate/avoid risk.
- Monitor supplier’s performance metrics of delivery and quality; working with the Division if needed to improve their performance
- Support to Accounts Payable on invoicing discrepancies from suppliers
