Northrop Grumman Australia partners with the Royal Australian Air Force to provide through-life support for its fleet of C-27J Spartan Airlifter aircraft. The C-27J complements the Australian Defence Force’s existing Air Mobility fleet and provides airlift of people, equipment and supplies to support Humanitarian Disaster Relief and crisis response in Australia and nearby regions.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Strategic Spares Planner, working from our Springfield office, to manage the supply planning for key assets and inventory within our operations. You will be responsible for conducting long-range forecasts, identifying risks, and determining purchase and repair requirements for strategically significant assets.
As a Strategic Spares Planner, you will work closely with the supply team and other internal stakeholders to address immediate supply issues, manage spares availability, and ensure the health of inventory is maintained to meet current and future demand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct long-range forecasts and risk assessments for Repair/Rotable Items, Sub fleet assets, and BDS&C.
- Determine purchase, repair, and exchange requirements based on supply planning.
- Collaborate with fleet planning, maintenance planning, and supply teams to ensure effective supply chain management for strategic assets.
- Manage ‘critical items’ and communicate with the supply and maintenance teams.
- Review TMP spares risk profile monthly to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and manage the achievement of agreed inventory health for BDS, RI, and Support & Test Equipment (S&TE).

Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in inventory management or aircraft maintenance, ideally within an aviation or repairable item management environment.
- Experience using inventory management systems such as MILIS, SAP, AIMS, IFlight, MRO, CAMM2, or similar.
- Strong understanding of strategic spares pool size modeling and planning.
- A team player with the ability to work independently and collaborate within larger groups.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to obtain an AGSVA security clearance.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience supporting in-service Defence aeronautical products.
- Knowledge of Export/Import Compliance Controls.
- Familiarity with Defence inventory management policies and ESCM
