NAV CANADA is hiring a Sustainability Co-op Student to join our Corporate Performance and Sustainability team! As a Co-op Student, you will improve your skills and gain valuable on-the-job work experience while learning about the aviation industry and NAV CANADA’s Sustainability Initiative and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Strategy. Job Description

Make a difference in sustainable aviation by joining our team and work on implementing NAV CANADA’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy.
As the Sustainability Data Analyst Co-op Student, you will be part of a diverse team of analysts working to support the implementation of NAV CANADA’s ESG Strategy. You will contribute to our ESG strategy implementation, including GHG emissions management, and sustainability reporting. There will be opportunities for your contribution towards sustainability initiatives at NAV CANADA.
This role involves:
Contributing to the implementation of NAV CANADA’s ESG strategy and the development of aeronautical sustainability goals.
Responsible for quantification of NAV CANADA’s GHG emissions inventory.
Managing data sources and improving data processing methods.
Contributing to the team’s development through research and collaboration.
Researching reporting best practices and standards for emissions reporting in the aviation industry.
Collaborating across NAV CANADA to improve data quality and reporting.
Assisting with tracking metrics for reporting progress on ESG goals.
Producing analytical reports and information with data obtained from internal and external sources and provide actionable insights.
The ideal candidate will have:
Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
Strong data analysis skills, with an aptitude for learning new tools.
Great organizational skills, be details-oriented, and dependable.
Motivation to learn and gain valuable experience.
A strong interest in sustainability.
An abundance of curiosity.

Knowledge & Abilities
Awareness of GHG emissions footprint calculations (i.e., scope 1, 2, 3 definitions)
Ability to identify complex problems, research and develop options and implement solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, visually, and in writing with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
Experience
Previous academic or work experience using data for research or analysis purposes.
Previous academic or work experience in sustainability (with environmental and/or social impacts)
Knowledge of Office suite or similar, particularly MS Excel and PowerPoint
Experience working within a team environment.
A willingness to learn about the aviation industry and Canada’s Air Navigation System; no prior experience needed.
