Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Systems Software Analyst to join our growing team of diverse professionals supporting the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. The MCTP technical teams plan, design, and oversee the execution of models and simulations, U. S. Army Mission Command Systems (AMCS), and collaborative tools and services support to Army Warfighter Exercises (WFX).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installs, configures, integrates, and administers the Army’s Joint Land Component Training Capability (JLCCTC) models and simulations, including the Warfighters’ Simulation (WARSIM) and its sub-components, and Army tactical servers and workstations, and perform systems integration tests between the simulation and tactical systems
- Prepares, builds, and maintains domains, systems, and services specifically targeted to support the customer’s management functions during training exercises
- Analyzes hardware and software system capabilities against customer requirements, and develops approaches using on-hand resources to fulfill those requirements
- Research existing and emerging technical products, programs, and systems to advise and guide the customer toward attaining technological solutions to problems
- In concert with their operational functions during an exercise, troubleshoots and or modify the Army’s hardware and software to meet requirements
- Applies technical, functional, and operational expertise to assist the customer with the prioritization of software change requests and purchase requests
- Develops procedures to ensure the use of all Government-provided technology is in conformance with information security and assurance directives
- Performs an operational analysis of each Army exercise concept to create, maintain, and optimize a simulation-AMCS-services architecture best suited to the training objectives of participating Army units and the customer’s specific requirements
- Develops and coordinates milestones and timelines for each phase of exercise preparation, execution, and recovery
- Attends exercise planning conferences
- Determines technical staffing, full time and part time and equipment required for project completion and help desk operations
- Monitors and adjusts system linkages and performance during exercises, and coordinates the analysis, adjudication, and correction of hardware and software problems
- Identifies shortfalls in the software and installation components of Government-provided software, and develops potential remedies
- Performs cost and risk assessments; and furnishes the customer with analysis results and recommendations
- Prioritizes and manages simulation architecture planning and resourcing to enhance capabilities and further reduce loss of service risks during exercises
Basic Qualifications:
- One of the following:
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 years of related technical experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years related technical experience
- Master’s degree
- Must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
- MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access) operational proficiency
- Must be willing to travel within the United States and overseas for 28-30 days, approximately 5-6 times a year, to support simulation-based Army command and staff training exercises
- Must be able to lift equipment containers weighing 50lbs
- Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and firsthand experience with Army organizations and or Army constructive models and simulations
- Current DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Minimum of 2 years of general system engineering or administration experience
- Conversant in networking principles, practices, protocols, routing, and network packet analysis tools; and able to perform network configuration of Windows Server 20xx and Linux operating systems
Salary Range: $75,300 - $112,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
