What you can expect as an Avionics Install Technician at West Star:

Whether you are replacing or repairing complex avionics systems, troubleshooting electrical systems or performing inspections on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world, no day is the same. What is the same, is that each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth.

 

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Removal and installation of panels, components and interiors, as well as repair work on avionics installations.
  • Stamp, bundle and install connectors on wiring.
  • Removal of old wiring and installation of new wire bundles in aircraft.
  • Troubleshooting and evaluation of avionics systems on the aircraft when designated.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated.
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in hangar stack when required
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases
  • Work within a team process
  • Work independently on projects when required.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

 

 

What you’ll need to bring with you:

 

Your Education:

A High school diploma or equivalent. Electronics or Avionics training is preferred. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

 

 

Your Experience :

1+ years’ experience working with electrical/avionics systems highly preferred

 

Your Initiative:   

We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.

 

Your Sense of Responsibility:      

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments. 

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day. 

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Maintain customer oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements                  

Lifts 50 lbs.

Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.

Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

Standing for long periods of time.

Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas

 

Mental Requirements                      

Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.

Follow wiring diagrams, route and terminate wires at proper locations.

Troubleshoot, evaluate and perform functional tests for various avionics and instrument systems.

Work with others in a professional manner.

 

Supervision       

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.

May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

 

Working Conditions            

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.                       

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

 

Equipment Used                                

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.

Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.

Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.          

Crimpers, soldering iron and heat guns.
