We are currently seeking an F-18 Avionics Technician 4 based permanently at Patuxent River, MD. In this position, you will support our EA-18G FOT&E efforts perform maintenance operations on EA-18G aircraft, EA-18G aircraft equipment, F-18 engines, EA-18G avionic components, and ALQ-218 AEA systems in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives in support of aircraft modification.
Responsibilities:
- Installs and troubleshoots avionics systems wiring in aircraft in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
- ALQ-218 and Data Analysis.
- Responsible for the analysis of ALQ-218 performance and responding to issues related to ALQ-218 hardware and software operations and overall data analysis tool used by the program office to gauge AEA performance.
- During ALQ-218 test flights, the person may be required to monitor operations via telemetry.
- Fabricates, installs and tests installation, routing, clamping and wiring harnesses. Interpret and apply in depth knowledge of complex experimental wiring diagrams and blueprints.
- Ensuring correct software and hardware aircraft configuration in accordance with CMO, engineering test needs and all future aircraft testing events. Loading aircraft software via DTD and PLS loading systems.
- Testing software viability during chamber testing evolutions and in-flight operations. Tracking of all AEA assets on or off station for all current and future aircraft configuration changes.
- Direct coordination with V2X Avionics maintenance team, instrumentation office, AEA Engineering team, CMO, Boeing and NGC affiliates to ensure aircraft test requirements are met. Assist with direct cockpit operations of all stated systems during all testing evolutions:
- Maintaining ALQ-218 systems, AEA pallet, WRA’s, EAU’s, CCS, ACMC’s, RFBU’s, NGJ, Instrumentation Flight Recorder, MUX, DDI/MPCD/LAD, Ground Power/Cooling Support GSE Equipment
- Conducts diagnosis of hardware malfunctions, MSP/Vector codes and software errors. Performs preventative and operational maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
- Annotate detailed technical reports of operations and malfunctions to engineering team and the program management office to ensure team cohesion.
- Must be able to work independently in an ever changing fast paced environment as well as maintain positive relationships with CMO, Avionics, PMA, AEA engineering team, NGC, Boeing and Government affiliates.
Basic Qualifications:
- Candidate must have previous EA-18G Aircraft and Airborne Electronic Attack system experience (USN), Specific ALQ-218 system operations and data analysis.
- Familiarity with Aircraft maintenance in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 (series).
- Candidate shall have a minimum of 6 years aircraft maintenance experience, 4 years’ experience at the E-5 equivalent or above level within the Avionics specialty on EA-18G aircraft. This experience should have been within the last 3 years.
- Must be able to obtain / maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance prior to day-1 of employment and maintain for continued employment with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance if required.
- Ability to obtain required cockpit operation qualifications, flight line pass, and all necessary on-site qualifications to complete job duties.
- Able to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, etc.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs and climb aircraft ladders to traverse aircraft unassisted.
- High School diploma
- Must be available to travel occasionally.
- Possess the ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Microsoft 360 Suite experience with a high-level of proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8-10 years avionics or aircraft maintenance experience on EA-18G or F/A-18 platform
- EA-18G Instrumentation experience.
- Familiarity with aircraft check on and off procedures.
- A&P license
- U.S. Navy or USMC aviation background
- Active Secret DoD clearance or Top-Secret Clearance.
- Microsoft 360 Suite experience with a high-level of proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Recent Operational flight test technical support experience a plus especially familiarity with ACETEF chamber operations.
Salary Range: $74,900 - $124,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
