PRIMARY FUNCTION
To install, repair, troubleshoot, construct, adjust, modify, and service all types of electronic and electrical equipment.
Tools And Equipment:
Wiring diagrams, drawings, calibrating and testing equipment, hand tools, portable & bench power tools, fork lift trucks, electronic gauges and detectors, communication equipment, electronic data processing equipment, conduit, wire, fittings, and electrical and electronic hardware.
Materials:
All electronic systems and their components, communications equipment, data recording and processing equipment, electronic computing and control systems, closed circuit television systems, electric motors, circuits, generators, transformers, etc.
Source Of Supervision:
Plant Superintendent, Maintenance and Production Foreman.
Direction Exercised:
May direct production employees while assisting during breakdowns, or other Repairers as required.
Working Procedure:
- Receives wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done.
- Analyzes all types of circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings as required to install, repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, modify or service all types of electronic and electrical devices and systems, including communication systems, various mill and production equipment, electronic computing and control systems, power and distribution control equipment, measuring, recording, processing and control devices, indicating devices and gauges, micro processing and control devices, etc.
- Plans details of working procedure to determine material or replacement needs and selects a logical approach to “trouble shooting” and repair problems. Answer trouble calls.
- Makes sketches of parts and layouts; designs and constructs adaption’s or conversions of component parts.
- Assembles, inspects, adjusts, repairs, or replaces faulty parts and wiring on all types of electronic and electrical equipment and/or devices. Make mechanical and electrical repairs as required in connection with the servicing of electronic and electrical equipment.
- Inspects, dismantles, services, reassembles, tests and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation.
- Maintains, installs or repairs all communication cables or wiring. Makes power cable splices. Climbs on buildings, towers, cranes and mill equipment to make inspections, repairs and installations.
- Considers all safety precautions and proper isolations of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specifications codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operations and application of equipment, etc.
- Fabricates parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trades.
- Installs conduit, fittings, switches, controls and fixtures; wires and connects all types of electronic and electrical equipment as required for new installations or replacement of facilities.
- Works in shop of field as required.
- Maintains performance and maintenance records on electronic equipment.
- Assist other trade or craft personnel as required for proper maintenance of any and all Press Plant equipment.
