The Flight Approval Coordinator position is located at our US Headquarters in Columbus, OH. This role is responsible for the initial risk and feasibility assessment of all new flights as well as changes to existing flights. Working closely with the Duty Managers (DMs) and Flight Ops Management (FOMOD) he/she also contributes to ensuring that the fleet is optimized for a safe and economically efficient operation.

As a Flight Approval Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to engage in a dynamic and multifaceted environment within aviation operations with opportunities to advance to advanced leadership roles. You will interact with various departments, ensuring that our fleet operates safely and efficiently while contributing to lifelong career opportunities across our group.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial risk and feasibility assessments for all new flight bookings and changes to existing bookings.
  • Evaluate flight planning and optimum flight paths, including runway performance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant international and national regulations, including operating hours, NOTAMs, and aircraft availability.
  • Collaborate with Crew Scheduling to validate crew availability and duty/rest regulations.
  • Coordinate with Crew Scheduling, Maintenance Control (MXC), Flight Ops Management (FOMOD), and Sales, RM, and AM/CS Teams to facilitate trip feasibility.
  • Maintain continuous communication with various teams to provide viable options for new trip requests and trip change requests based on aircraft and crew availability.
  • Work with the Duty Manager to continually optimize scheduling for maximum utilization and availability.
  • Monitor and maintain an ongoing overview of security, restrictions, and hazardous situations globally, escalating any potential issues.
  • Collaborate with the Data Management Team to ensure that airport databases in Global View are up to date.
  • Monitor the FACT mailbox and respond promptly to queries regarding quotes and operational feasibility.

Required Education and Experience

  • 2-4 Years of experience with a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a course of study/major in business, aviation, or operations management; or 6+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ Years of experience in flight tracking and monitoring
  • Experienced acting upon and communicating irregular operations such as delays, diversions, last-minute changes, and other irregularities that may potentially affect the schedule
  • Knowledge of FARs regarding Part 91, 121, 125 or 135 airline operations preferred
  • Flight Dispatch License or Commercial Pilot License preferred
  • Experience with any of the mainstream Computerized Flight Planning Software
