At GE Aviation systems, we are constantly expanding our product range of high integrity Power Distribution and Avionics Controller products for various safety critical aviation applications. Our range includes aircraft Power distribution systems, high integrity data acquisition systems, controllers, remote data concentrators, flight data recorders (“black boxes”) and Flight Management Systems (FMS).
We are looking for an Electronic Hardware Engineer to join our team, with design and/or device verification responsibilities within the Hardware Engineering department, working alongside our Systems, Software and Test Equipment Engineering teams and collaborating with our extended Engineering teams in UK, USA, Poland and Mexico.
In this role, you will have responsibility for the Analog Electronic content and technical solution of a development project, having design and/or verification responsibility and providing technical leadership for less experienced team members.
You will be responsible for artefact delivery to agreed requirements, standards and milestones in compliance with DO-254 for aerospace products.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead and own aspects of Analog Electronics development over the full life cycle development for the device, from requirements through to product ready implementation. The ideal candidate would further have a good and demonstrable track record of successful technical designs, strong collaboration and aspects of project leadership. Valued skills and experience include problem ownership and resolution, self-motivation and autonomy, working to strict deadlines ideally within a highly regulated industry such as Aerospace, Automotive or Medical under the auspices of a globally recognized Quality Management System such as AS-9100.
Knowledge of safety critical design is an advantage but not an absolute requirement as support will be provided. Working knowledge of DO-254 is a distinct advantage.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
Works in Hardware Engineering team alongside Software and Systems Engineering teams.
Develops Safety Critical designs to requirements, manages device level requirements, analyses and resolves technical issues within technical area of responsibility.
Produces high quality artefacts consistent with engineering policies and procedures with solid audit trail for internal and customer use.
Leads small projects teams, provides feedback and guidance to team members to ensure that expected results are deliver meeting Safety and Quality requirements and within schedule.
Provides input and support into project plans with guidance to meet technical project objectives.
Supports technical reviews.
Acts as a mentor for colleagues with less experience.
Required Qualifications
Good knowledge of the analog circuitry design, with focus on design based primarily on discrete components.
Good knowledge of the digital circuitry design, RF experience up to 100Mhz.
Knowledge of common digital communication interfaces like SPI, I2C, RS4XX, CAN and similar.
- Understanding of the relations between analog and digital circuitry.
- Experience with design to manufacture with emphasis on the EMC aspects.
- Experience with circuit simulation and report generation.
- Attention to details and focus on quality is a must.
- Very good English skills.
Desired Characteristics
- It is important for candidate to understand the process of PCB-A design from the requirements to the production launch. Candidate shall demonstrate experience in the participating in such a process, at various stages, from beginning till the end.
- Experience with designed solution prototyping and prototype testing using formal testing procedures.
- Experience with failure root cause analysis, being able to interpret the failed test results for further design improvements.
- Understanding temperature dependencies in electronics design.
Desirable tools experience
- PCB schematic and layout CAD tool, hence experience in design and analyze PCB and assemblies
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Requirements management (e.g. DOORS)
