Job Description SummaryAn Advanced Repair Engineer (E4) leads long term repair engineering projects and supports the documentation to achieve design, substantiation and development of aircraft engines parts during maintenance, repair and overhaul. Provides customer support on questions and deviations related to Engine Manuals through the resolution of queries and technical concerns while developing a sense of urgency to support repair shop production schedule. Coaches and assists less experienced engineers and interacts in a multi-functional team environment. Works with shops and different GE Aerospace cross-functional organizations (such as Design Engineering, Materials Department, Product Support, Systems Engineering, etc.) to develop robust repairs across GE Aerospace business.
The Engineer in this position will serve as a reviewer of new or improved projects to implement current practices and lessons learned from prior projects. Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. Utilizes experience or expertise to solve problems, develops and executes objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute the assigned repair projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Coach and formally mentor others in the development and or integration related to assigned hardware or projects to meet business standards, practices and procedures and meet the product/program requirements from Repair Technology perspective.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations for departure records and inquiries to internal and external GE customers through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data.
- Provide the engineering technical support to cross functional teams to improve or resolve repair development, manufacturing, supplier or field issues.
- Document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned hardware components related to repair processes consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures.
- Monitor and communicate project status, significant developments and obstacles identified during repair development and industrialization process.
- Understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work and support others.
- May have autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- Lead the solution of complex technical problems and the implementation of the development of repair components and processes.
- Utilize Lean tools to improve current business products and processes.
- Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
- Check own and other people’s work.
- Recognized technical expert in relevant engineering domain.
- Conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal customers through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, etc.).
- Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position.
- Communication skills: strong and effective oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Ability to document, plan and execute programs.
- Presentation skills: ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.
- Demonstrated ability in managing projects across functions.
- Capable of coaching others to accomplish assignments.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience.
- Demonstrated ability in establishing common goals and objectives.
