Job Description SummaryThe Lead Engineer will be accountable for developing X-ray inspection solutions and contribute to the overall NDE strategy for GE Aviation. The engineer demonstrates accountability for some functional, business and broad company objectives. In this role, you will support supply chain shops and work towards digitizing NDE data to increase operator productivity and decrease component cost.Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Work with inspection experts to develop X-ray/CT (computed tomography) inspection solutions
- Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
- Define and develop product processes related to design, analysis, test, materials, manufacture, quality and/or productivity
- Identify need for technical and program reviews within the organization, lead and participate in the technical reviews with limited guidance from senior engineers
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate
- Assure proper documentation of technical data or programs generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and contract commitments, develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Engineering experience) + a minimum of 3 years of Engineering experience
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science (preferred)
- Prior experience with composites
- At least 5 additional years experience in an engineering position (preferred)
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setting with Aviation similar quality requirements
- Experience with NPI project management
- In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools
- Experience in a non-destructive testing environment
- Experience with aviation quality requirements
