Job Description SummaryThe position is for an Intellectual Property (IP) Analyst and Strategist at GE Aerospace in Bangalore. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technologists/engineers, the IP Strategy team, the IP Intelligence team, and IP Counsels, to develop and implement IP strategies for the business. Your responsibilities will include conducting IP Analytics with minimal guidance, performing Freedom to Practice reviews, and gathering competitive intelligence in areas such as gas turbines and jet engine, specifically focusing on the mechanical, thermal design of fan, compressor, and turbine modules. You will search and analyze both IP and non-IP literature, leveraging your technical expertise to provide insights that drive the businesss IP strategy.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Searching, analyzing, and compiling technical, commercial, and patent information using a variety of free and subscribed databases which will provide insights to technologists, Leadership, and legal team.
- Providing various types of analyses, such as those for patent / technology landscape, patentability of inventions, SWOT analysis, and freedom to practice landscapes, FTP reviews with technologists. Candidate will be provided limited guidance, especially in complex analysis, as required.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute.
- Present analysis and recommendations in a concise and actionable manner
- Proactively anticipating events that impact customer deliverables and manage them. Deliver on projects within fixed timelines
- Lead and/or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and process continuous improvement (LEAN) efforts to provide standard work.
Required Qualifications
- BE/MTech/MS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related domain, with 6-7 years experience in engineering / research / IP analytics/IP Strategy
- Understanding of gas turbine propulsion technology, Aircraft Engine Structural, Systems, Thermal, Aero & Design
- Willingness to learn and build expertise in Intellectual Property Analytics methods and tools
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work with global teams & possess excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in team environment
- Passion for technology and excellence
Desired Characteristics
Working knowledge of patent law and experience in IP analysis.
