Job Description:
SUMMARY: engineering supporting heavy maintenance base operations at aircraft MROs. Acts as Supervisor over technicians to ensure airworthiness of heavy commercial aircraft.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Providing technical dispositions (via Engineering Authorizations) and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage including sheet metal and composite repairs. This often includes performing a structural analysis.
- Providing work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents & Engineering Orders.
- Providing options for repairing versus replacing a part to minimize financial impact.
- Providing aircraft system trouble shooting assistance to Base Maintenance and delegation of duties to junior technicians.
- Attending daily production meeting and pre-induction meeting to ensure timely support.
- Providing on-site engineering assistance for significantly damaged line aircraft as required.
- Coordinating events/issues with Engineering Fleet Groups for additional action, troubleshooting and follow-up.
- Monitoring trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action. Developing Typical Repairs and manual supplement to eliminate repetitive BA requests.
EDUCATION:
- BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
- Two plus (2+) years in specific technical discipline
- FAA licensing
Required Unique Skills:
- Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Self-motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM)
- Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customers needs
- Aircraft/airline/MRO aviation engineering experience desired
