Manufacturing Engineer II
The Manufacturing Engineer designs and plans layout for such activities as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and materials handling.

Job Duties

  • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations relating to specific portions of the product for guidance of production workers.
  • Assists in planning for the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Seeks optimized sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Interprets drawings and models to develop efficient processes as required for the assigned area(s) of the factory.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops tool design concepts for new tooling, tooling improvements, and tool maintenance.
  • May work within an IPT structure supporting one or more IPT’s across the factory and/ or with suppliers or customers.
  • Creates work instructions, Tool Usage Instructions, Mfg. Bills of Materials (MBOM’s,) and validates the configuration of the aircraft assemblies based on established processes utilizing ERP and PLM computer systems, 2D drawings, 3D models, and specifications.
  • Assists in the estimating and NPI processes for new programs or projects brought into the plant, as assigned by leadership.
  • May provide guidance to Design Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to influence the designs utilizing DFMA principles which better utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and layout.
  • Interpret in-depth engineering requirements and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Profile and other information related to the position

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently required in order to perform the job
  • Experience in large airframe structures, Determinate Assembly (DA) requirements and techniques, assembly tools methods and manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent planning and time management skills
  • Ability to convey complex information in a way that people understand
  • Proven experience with ERP and PLM systems, i.e., SAP, Oracle, Teamcenter, Enovia, etc.
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems such as CATIA V5/ V6, UGNX, ProE, etc.
