Position Summary:
A PCC-Helicomb Engineer provides technical support for all facets of the production process. This includes creating the technical foundation needed for new production to succeed, acting as a liaison to meet the technical needs of existing production, designing production tooling, developing solutions to material and process issues, developing production controls, and interfacing with customers when technical issues arise. An Engineer must be capable of working in cooperation with others to achieve successful solutions to technical problems.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret customer engineering, specifications, and configuration plans.
- Provide technical support for new contracts or current production.
- Performs contract review activities.
- Thoroughly understand engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D model-based definitions and convey this knowledge to Production, Quality, and Purchasing in an understandable way.
- Create bills of material in MRP system to support Purchasing Group.
- Maintain Item Masters in M2M.
- Author shop floor planning documents – instructions the mechanics follow as they produce the contract items.
- Designing composite or metal production tooling.
- Interfacing with the customer to solve technical issues.
- Design and substantiate composite repairs (in support of MRO/repair contracts).
- Liaison to mechanics when production issues arise on the shop floor.
- Assist in solving quality, producibility, or efficiency issues.
- Stays informed concerning new manufacturing technology and equipment, and investigates their potential applications.
- Evaluates and dispositions nonconforming products and materials in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain and update Digital Product Definition Databases.
- Assists with any customer audit that concerns technical/engineering processes and methods.
- Actively support and participate in continuous improvement

Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be familiar with material properties, mechanical principles, and the application of mathematics and dimensions to a designed and manufactured component.
- Helpful to have 2D design skills (AutoCad). 3D design skills would be beneficial (Solidworks, CATIA, etc).
- Able to mentally visualize and understand the design of a component, and visualize how that component could be manufactured. Attentive to details.
- Working knowledge of computer systems and data processing.
- Communication: verbal and written
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred (but non-degreed candidates with engineering experience considered)
- Manufacturing experience required.
- At least 4 years engineering experience required.
- Experience with Metal Bond / Composite manufacturing a plus.
- Experience with MRO (Maintenance, Repair Overhaul) a plus.
- Aerospace experience a plus.
