Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (AS) sector is seeking an Air Vehicle (AV) Chief Engineer for program integration and execution. This key leadership role is based out of Melbourne, FL.
The selected candidate is responsible for the technical baseline development and control of the air vehicle component of a major weapon system. This includes responsibility and accountability in the following areas: airframe design and structural analysis, air vehicle subsystems (electrical, hydraulic, ECS, fuel, alighting gear, flight controls, mechanisms, etc.) requirements and integration, and propulsion integration. The individual will in partner with the Program engineering organization and Execution IPTs to support the design of the air vehicle aligned to performance requirements as well as associated verification testing. Emphasis is placed on design development and release management across a complete weapon system including various required test articles. Additional experience with air vehicle supplier management and supplier issue resolution to maintain technical and program performance. Recent and relevant experience in Model Based System Engineering and understanding of digital threads, digital twins, and integration across air vehicle, software, and avionics design and analysis tools.

The Air Vehicle Chief Engineer will be responsible for leading the AV program organization by championing diversity, equity, and inclusion to foster a high-performing, motivated, and engaged culture. This leader will also be responsible for establishing the vision and strategy for the AV program organization and collaborating broadly up and across AS engineering leadership in pursuit of collective business objectives.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience in a technical leadership and technical management roles – inclusive of technical baseline management (including product support) as chairman of the Technical Review Board (TRB), leading and ensuring major technical reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR), safety of flight and airworthiness approval, and technical risk, TPMs, and opportunity management
Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in air vehicle development including structural design/analysis, loads and dynamics, aero performance, hydraulics, ECS, propulsion, landing gear, fuel systems, and flight controls. Includes supplier management for procured subsystems.
Experience and understanding of best practices in program management, configuration data management, manufacturing, and product support
Experience across lifecycles including Research and Design, Product Development or New Product Introduction, Production, and Sustainment
Salary Range: $203,000 - $304,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
