A Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of products or services at a high level of quality, contributing to the establishment of a robust and effective process that aligns with both external and internal quality requirements. This position offers the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements, manufacturing processes, and inspection methods, fostering on-time delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.

In this technical role, the intern will actively support the team in identifying and leading cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing product quality and improving productivity in manufacturing processes. Collaboration with global engineering, supplier quality, and supply chain teams will be integral as the intern analyzes data, identifies root causes, and implements solutions to address manufacturing quality issues.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Actively participate to all activities related to product validation (First Article Inspection; Validation Package collection and verification, etc.).
  • Participate in the refinement of Process FMEA’s
  • Participate in all activities related to the execution of all customer audits.
  • Learn how to manage an action plan to introduce corrective actions and Lesson Learnt implementation.
  • Specific learning tasks: Non-Conformity Management; Preliminary review activity, KPI tracking and reporting for Daily Shop Management
  • Participate to RCCA (Root Causes and Corrective Actions) activities through a cross functional team to improve production processes and reduce risk of customer escapes.
  • Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Daily Meetings with Manufacturing/Quality/Engineering teams

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Masters degree in Mechanic and/or Aerospace and/or Management Engineering
  • Understanding of working principles of aviation propulsion systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude (i.e. understanding of mechanical processes).
  • Knowledge of technical drawings
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Fluent in Italian and English
  • EU Work Permit

Desired Characteristics

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional work groups
  • Knowledge of materials used for the aviation industry.
  • General knowledge of main quality problem solving tools (e.g. Ishikawa diagram, 5Wx3L, Pareto Diagrams, Control Charts, Gage R&R, etc.).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to coordinate many tasks concurrently
  • Study or working experience abroad will be considered as a plus
  • Previous work experience in Aviation industry will be considered as a plus
