The role of the Buyer – Engineering Purchasing is to support the Manager – Repairs & Purchasing and Senior Buyer with the procurement of aircraft spares and Engineering services for VAA’s Aircraft Operations requirements. The Buyer will create or actively contribute to efficiencies that deliver quantifiable cost savings to the supply chain and support the management of our approved vendors. The Buyer will also support and contribute to the continuous improvement of the purchasing team’s performance.
Purchase spares and services in the most cost effective and timely manner from approved vendors.

Deliver cost savings to the supply chain.

Actively manage the operational performance of our suppliers through the enforcement of contractual terms and as appropriate, performance improvement plans.

Actively contribute to the day to day running of the purchasing team to ensure departmental performance meets and strives to exceed KPI’s.

Support the Senior Buyer and Manager – Repairs & Purchasing with department projects.
We’re seeking a skilled buyer/purchasing professional with airline experience and a drive to bring value to all you do and deliver savings where possible. If this sounds like you and you have the below skills/experience, we think you would love this role!

  • Good knowledge of sources of supply for the material and services that are procured by the department.
  • Detailed knowledge of IPC’s and relevant IT systems.
  • Good knowledge of technical Regulations and documentation.
  • Strong negotiator with track record of results
  • Member of (or working towards) the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply
  • Strong PC skills (MS Word/Excel/Access)
  • Significant Supply Chain experience with a very good understanding of our supplier base
  • High level of numeracy
  • Intellectually able to assimilate and process complex data from a range of sources
  • Professional in approach – commits to actions and keeps commitments
  • Able to operate well under pressure - time and conflict and volume of work
  • Commercial awareness outside immediate responsibilities
