What You Will Do:
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with a strong technical background to lead our Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction efforts. This role will focus on identifying and resolving issues related to scrap, rework, and non-conformance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with machining or coatings processes and be capable of performing in-depth root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and driving cross-functional projects to improve production efficiency and product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- COPQ Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends, process inefficiencies, and high-cost areas related to scrap, rework, and non-conformance.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop and implement solutions that improve process reliability and reduce waste. Focus on continuous improvement in areas like machining accuracy, coating adherence, and material utilization.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use statistical process control (SPC) and other data analysis tools to identify and validate improvement opportunities. Present clear, actionable insights to leadership and stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across disciplines including quality, engineering, TVA suppliers, and operations to implement solutions and ensure alignment on quality improvement projects.
- Technical Reporting: Develop and present technical reports detailing COPQ performance, corrective action progress, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure that all corrective actions are tracked and closed in a timely manner.
- Lean and Six Sigma Implementation: Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other advanced problem-solving techniques to eliminate waste and drive operational excellence.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on COPQ reduction, scrap minimization, or process improvement.
- Strong background in machining, coatings, or surface treatment processes, with a thorough understanding of manufacturing tolerances, material behaviors, and production constraints. Proven ability to lead technical investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and drive implementation of corrective actions in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with process control, statistical analysis, and using tools such as SPC, PFMEA, and DOE. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, with a track record of applying them to reduce defects and improve process efficiency. Strong technical communication skills for reporting out on COPQ metrics and presenting data-driven solutions to leadership and stakeholders.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt).
