OnsiteAs a Certification Engineer reporting to the Certification Manager, you will play a crucial role in advancing aviation safety and innovation. Your primary mission will be to oversee the stringent FAA certification process for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. What You Will Do:
- Drive Innovation: Undertake significant engineering assignments that are integral to larger projects, employing your expertise to select optimal engineering techniques for problem-solving and design decisions.
- Be a Key Player: Represent the Certification and Structures team in critical design reviews, ensuring that all perspectives are considered in the decision-making process.
- Champion Compliance: Compile comprehensive FAA certification documentation for submission to commercial aircraft OEMs and regulatory agencies, playing a vital role in maintaining industry standards.
- Ensure Excellence: Review and approve design changes from a certification perspective, ensuring that all modifications meet regulatory requirements.
- Optimize Designs: Support design optimization initiatives, including weight reduction strategies, to enhance both performance and efficiency.
- Lead Testing Initiatives: Spearhead testing activities, including static and component-level testing, to validate the integrity and safety of seating components.
- Collaborate Effectively: Act as the certification representative within integrated project teams for various engineering projects, ensuring alignment and communication across disciplines.
- Communicate Results: Develop and prepare test plans, reports, and documentation for communication with regulatory agencies, showcasing compliance and promoting transparency.
- Manage Projects: Ensure the successful completion of assigned project phases within budgetary and time constraints, demonstrating your project management acumen.
- Define Engineering Approaches: Participate in defining engineering strategies and planning/executing the certification work for Main Cabin Seating Products Teams.
- Travel: This position requires 10 travel.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Ability to perform classical stress analysis.
- Familiarity with strengths of standard aviation materials.
- Prior working experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with aircraft interiors.
- Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.
- Familiarity and/or experience with structural finite element analysis (FEA) methods and modeling applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare and give presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.
- Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and engineering related software programs.

- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
