ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
As Consulting Engineer –Model Based Manufacturing, your responsibilities will include:
- Serve as a recognized technical expert in model-based enterprise engineering through digital manufacturing and manufacturing process control. You will provide deep domain expertise in architecting and developing model-based solutions from component models to part manufacturing. Work cross-functionally on 3D model consumption and processing, in-process manufacturing model development, integrated environment for manufacturing models/tooling/fixtures, digital machine environments for advanced CNC systems and programming. Provides consultation to management, all engineering and supply chain organizations, and supplier organizations.
- Establish a technical strategy to assure early involvement in new production introduction or change management on manufacturing process producibility and model-based manufacturing. Provide leadership to help focus and integrate new technology smoothly into production. Lead / support study teams to address top problems within the organization or projects in focused technical areas.
- Remain cognizant of state-of-the-art in area of expertise, owning technology roadmaps; developing systemic, proactive technology solutions to improve highest quality of manufacturing. Proactively identify areas where technology advancements are needed, maintain roadmaps and recommend approaches / programs to pursue including latest methods/tools. Defines IP and Key Technology strategy & uses patents for competitive advantage. Connects with external forums to provide technical leadership in area of expertise.
- Provide technical consultation and leadership for the engine life cycle, particularly in the area of Model based Enterprise (MBE). Provide leadership during the design review process, in preparation for Tollgate readiness, as well as preside over formal technology and design milestone reviews. Participate and lead design reviews, task force, industrial committees, and design boards as required. Provide leadership, experience and knowledge to help proactively identify and solve technical problems.
- Lead documentation of best practices, lessons learned and standards, as well as their dissemination across the organization. Develop templates for the organization, support efforts on knowledge management and building a strong enterprise wise technical community.
- Enhance technical excellence and domain expertise in the organizations, proactively identifying gaps and maintaining competency levels in the business. Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline are needed or where technical training is needed. Provides mentorship and coaching to develop talent in the organization.
- Stays current and involved within GE Aerospace and its affiliates, aerospace industry, academia and regulatory initiatives to ensure state of the art competitiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university + Minimum of 5 years of experience in technologies related to model-based enterprise with emphasis on model-based manufacturing, digital engineering, computer aided design and manufacturing, manufacturing systems, advanced manufacturing. experience
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Technical background and/or working experience in Model based Enterprise, Product Life Cycle Management and Manufacturing Enterprise Systems.
- Use of software systems such as Siemens NX, Siemens, Teamcenter and/or similar CAD/PLM systems, Proficy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Leadership to pursue correct engineering process in adverse conditions
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
- Considered an expert in a specific engineering discipline
