Position Overview:
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement across aircraft and component maintenance/modification/repair/overhaul, aircraft part manufacture, engineering, supply chain, and project portfolio management activities. Develop and implement improvement initiatives using continuous improvement tools & techniques, working closely with diverse stakeholder groups often including IT. Measure improvements, set them up to be sustained, communicate results, celebrate successes, and share lessons learned. Promote and develop continuous improvement knowledge and thinking throughout the organization.
What You Will Do:
- Review existing processes, facilities, systems, etc. for potential productivity improvements.
- Use standard lean, six sigma, and industrial engineering tools/techniques to analyze existing processes and suggest improvements.
- Perform analysis to identify opportunities, cost-vs-benefit, and make the case for change
- Assemble and lead teams through the change process
- Coordinate all activities on implementing approved changes.
- Provide Project Management on larger projects, including scheduling, project planning, and risk management
- Prepare documentation including procedures, work instructions, and training materials to support any changes from process improvements.
- Perform training to educate employees, customers, and others affected by changes.
- Develop measurements to quantify success of implemented improvements.
- Prepare reports or presentations to document and communicate the results of improvement activities
- Develop management reporting, KPIs, and other tools to support the sustainment of improvements
What You Will Bring:
- Professional Industrial Engineer or similar with applicable work experience
- Training and experience in process improvement techniques such as lean manufacturing, six sigma, and continuous improvement
- Strong change management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proven track record implementing change
- Ability to successfully work and communicate with all levels of employees and management
- Strong MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Word, MS Power BI, & SQL skills preferred
- Project Management training/experience is preferred
- Experience facilitating/leading Kaizen events (or other improvement events with diverse groups) is preferred
- Prior experience in aerospace, defense, union, ERP, and project portfolio management environments is preferred
- Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
- The successful applicants will be eligible to meet requirements for the U.S International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
- Applicants must be able to pass and maintain a Level II (Secret) security clearance with the Department of National Defence.
