We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Data Science Engineer II with a strong interest in AI/ML and advanced analytics to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing and applying data science techniques to solve complex customer problems. This role will involve hands-on experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making to help shape the data strategy and drive insights from large, diverse datasets.  This position will be onsite in Tysons Corner, VA.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with data and subject matter experts and customer teams to seek, understand, validate, interpret, and correctly use data and business insights

  • Train, validate and deploy machine learning pipelines

  • Test, troubleshoot, and enhance customer software applications with and on behalf of customers

  • Identify application performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations

  • Write application specifications, tutorials and documentation

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires proficiency in applying data science methods, software, and tools, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.

  • Responsible for identifying and resolving routine operational or data-related issues within assigned projects or tasks.

  • Experience applying discretion and judgment in problem-solving, with reliance on documented procedures and prior case studies to analyze and resolve issues effectively.

  • Experience implementing small-scale modifications to existing systems and processes to enhance functionality or improve efficiency.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance or higher is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Applied Machine Learning experience (regression and classification, supervised, and unsupervised learning)

  • Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, calculus, probability and statistics)

  • Proficiency in time-series data analysis, cleansing, and normalization

  • Experience with scalable Machine Learning (MapReduce, streaming)

  • Software development experience with Python and JavaScript

  • Experience with Git or other version control software

  • Ability to drive a project and work both independently and in a team

  • Knowledgeable, motivated, demonstrates a positive work ethic, and seeks to contribute meaningfully to organizational goals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Existing U.S. TS/SCI Poly (CI or FS) security clearance is highly preferred

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
