About us:
The Data Engineering team supports spacecraft programmes with their digital needs. This includes being involved in finding data & software solutions, in the context of system level design, development, and verification, for new & on-going European Space Agency (ESA) programmes such as ExoMars Rover, Vigil, Truths & Biomass and commercial telecommunication programmes such as OneSAT. The team is not only integrated into the programme community, with visibility of the programme phases but has involvement in phases of critical software solutions used across programmes. Our team is a mixture of technical experts who are all passionate about finding technical solutions to support the space programmes. We are an ideal mix of people who can help you develop technically and personally in the role.
What you will be doing:
The Apprentice role will be working on cutting edge space programmes, for customers such as the European Space Agency within the Data Engineering group at Stevenage. This technical role will involve working in the area of development, test and delivery of cutting-edge software solutions for spacecraft data management requiring a good grounding in related software development & data management technologies.
As a Data Engineering Apprentice you will gain experience across development, test and delivery of software solutions within spacecraft development & test across a number of space programmes.
The tasks will be varied and require you to develop & use different skills (technical, project management, communication etc.) in order to complete them successfully.
You will support & eventually initiate activities within the team gaining experience ‘end to end’; from analysing use cases of spacecraft engineering domains, developing proto-type software solutions to final test, delivery, install & post delivery support.

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
The ability to listen, understand and communicate information
The desire to work in a technical team environment, with an interest in software engineering
A strong interest in developing yourself, especially in the context of software engineering
Interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems
A passion for coding & engineering
Any hobbies or examples of software development using Object Orientated coding (e.g. Python, Java), use of Raspberry PIs is of particular interest.

Important Information:
GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the required grades before the apprenticeship start date.
