Responsibilities
As a Director of Cloud Platform Engineering, you will be leading Panasonic Cloud Platform Strategy, DevSecvOps practice and Engineering Teams. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills. You should have hands-on senior leadership experience, and a strong belief in transparency and accountability. You have hands-on experience that has fueled your knowledge and experience on your journey into leadership. You have experience hiring and developing the skills and talents of others. You have led teams working in AWS to achieve cost effective, reliable, High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions. You have previous success in setting up and regulating AWS FinOps solutions. You have previous experience leading cloud infrastructure teams supporting highly scalable SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS service solutions. You are someone who has a passion for DevSecOps principles and best practices, has a deep understanding of advanced automation toolsets for CI/CD infrastructure, and the ability to lead and provide direction in a continuously changing and competitive technology landscape. You care about what you do, and the people around you. Ownership is a key characteristic you inspire your teams to ingrain in their culture.
What you will be doing:
Strategic Oversight
- Create and Communicate a Vision for how Cloud enables Product development and the Business to move quickly and efficiently.
- Sponsor and support cloud governance initiatives, establishing standards, cost monitoring, and security / compliance efforts.
- Identify and prioritize technical initiatives to align and integrate with business goals.
- Add transparency mechanisms for stakeholders into the priorities and activities of our Cloud Platform Engineering.
- Solicit requirements from collaborators and foster excellent communication with stakeholders.
- Manage budget planning and oversight for all software development teams.
- Keep up to date on both macro and micro changes that may impact development efforts and goals and adapt development strategies based on learnings.
Leadership
- Act as a mentor for other technical leaders and work to establish a strong bench of future leaders.
- Establish standards and performance expectations for leaders and individual contributors.
- Recruit, develop, and manage team members in support of building a pipeline of top talent and team member career goals.
- Develop, modify and execute company policies that affect immediate operation(s) and may also have company-wide effect.
- Direct activities through subordinate managers who exercise full supervision in terms of costs, scheduling, and staffing.
Technical Oversight
- Provide Technical Leadership for Cloud Infrastructure Standards, Governance, Operations and DevSecOps Practices.
- Foster a work environment that is innovative and fast and delivers high-quality software products.
- Interface with other business units to help establish common tools, workflows, best practices, and standards to promote concurrent engineering.
- Establish proper interfaces for exchange of data between departments, business units, and vendors.
The salary range of $157,000 - $263,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.
Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
Qualifications
Requirements we are looking for:
- BS / MS in Electrical / Computer / Computer Science Engineering required.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of management experience, directly supervising and mentoring managers and teams.
- 5 + years of experience managing and leading cloud platform or cloud engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of demonstrated ability in DevSecOps, Infrastructure Delivery, and technical operations.
- Strong track record of delivering results and are able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities with various business stakeholders.
- Experience leading Architecture/Principal level engineers.
- Experience working with AWS both at a technical delivery and business management level.
- Experience setting operational metrics and reporting.
- Experience leading cloud cost optimization efforts.
- Experience leading cloud security and compliance efforts.
- Must possess a solid background in relevant engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience working in Cloud Native environments, specifically AWS.
- Extensive AWS Cloud architecture experience, strong familiarity and Experience with AWS Well Architected Framework.
- Extensive experience building Cloud native Software solutions and platforms, managing teams and projects in that space.
- Experience with multi-account and multi-region systems architecture and best practices.
- Experience leading multiple teams, managing many levels of leaders and individual contributors.
- Experience with FinOps solutions, cost optimization, charge back models, and establishing related governance programs.
- Experience driving DevSecOps best practices & principles across the organization.
- Extensive experience using modern monitoring tools (Cloudwatch, DataDog, etc) and establishing metrics, monitoring, alarming, and dashboards.
- Hands-on experience with modern programming languages preferred.
- Extensive experience managing change management practices, policies, and procedures.
- Previous examples of success establishing incident and security response processes.
- Previous vendor contracts negotiation experience.
- Experience managing and establishing automated controls for 3rd party audits (SOX, SOC-II, etc).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, SRE concepts and best practices.
- Build and deliver self-service platforms that create environments, test and deploy code, advance our CI/CD infrastructure to help reach our deployment goals.
- Experience implementing software delivery process such as Agile or SAFe across multiple teams or organizations.
- Proven ability to drive organizational transformation to support business strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to drive ownership and accountability in delivering quality product on time to customers.
- Proven experience operating at a senior level software engineering position with broad range of responsibilities.
