Arconic is currently in search of a Drafter I to join our Kawneer business in Harrisonburg, VA.
Primary Purpose of the Job
Under the direction of the Drafting Supervisor, the Drafter I position primary responsibilities will be to use computer-aided drafting software for drafting services by providing shop drawings, die drawings, and meeting customer deadlines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews architectural and structural drawings, specifications, design drawings and sketches, understands product usage and design for application, and reviews with team leaders to ensure correct interpretations.
- Uses computer-aided drafting software and established drafting standards to develop layouts, drawings, and designs that meet engineering specifications.
- Reviews and understands specifications with supervision.
- Understands project flow from Sales to Estimating to Technical Services
- Read and interpret as sold quotes.
- Prepares shop drawings for standard and modified standard projects using established drafting standards, small to medium in size.
- Incorporates spaned up corrections from internal and external customers with supervision.
- Can self-check standard and modified standard projects, small to medium in size using established drafting standards.
- Prepares die drawings for projects at customer request.
- Has knowledge of a variety of standard products and procedures.
- Well-rounded knowledge of manufacturing, installation, and glazing processes
- Meet deadlines to support OTIF (On time in Full)
- Maintain Consistent Performance (Measured by yearly CIV/COV quality goal)
Essential Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel, AutoCAD
- Knowledge of Kawneer product being used in application of specific project - product information, installation instructions.
- Understand other trades and investigate usage if needed.

Basic Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Drafting Certificate
- 1-3 Years of experience with AutoCAD
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- AAS in drafting and design (2-year degree)
- Experience in curtain wall and storefront is preferred.
