We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-Op student to assume a key role within the Communication Products Engineering Department in Mission Systems. You will be designing and developing digital hardware used in high performance communication products that are critical to the defense of our nation, such as sophisticated software-defined radios and data links designed for use in various ground, airborne, and space applications. This position is onsite, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

What You Will Do:
- Perform circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, signal integrity analysis, creation of printed circuit board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, and root cause analysis.
- Create and analyze electrical schematics.
- Select components necessary to implement the design requirements.
- Perform test and troubleshooting of electronic circuitry.
- Assist with digital hardware factory and field failure root cause analysis.
What You Will Learn:
- How to merge theoretical knowledge gained in school with practical engineering applications.
- Technical skills in all phases of hardware design (requirements capture, design, schematic capture, layout, test/verification, integration, and factory transition)
- Design documentation methods and processes.
- Signal and Power integrity analysis.
- Printed circuit board stackup and routing instructions.
- Coordination and review of printed wiring board layouts.
- Creation of hardware test plans.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with digital electronics design principles and techniques (e.g. circuit designs using Microprocessor/microcontroller, DSP, FPGA, ADC, DAC, etc.) and experience working with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Analyzers, etc.)
- Experience with a schematic capture tool (examples may include Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Siemens Xpedition Enterprise, Cadence Allegro, Altium, KiCad, or etc.) and signal integrity analysis tools (ex. Hyperlynx) for creation of circuit card designs.
- Working knowledge of digital circuit design parameters (e.g., throughput, rise time, clock frequencies, propagation delay). Includes knowledge of computer hardware components (e.g., processors, memory, interfaces), and characteristics (e.g., throughput, processing architecture, timing, capacity).

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
