Job Summary
DRS Naval Electronics is seeking a Digital System Designer with an emphasis on FPGA design, simulation and verification. Responsible for electrical engineering activities including creating circuit design, developing test procedures, analyzing reports, creating process documentation, and conducting testing of products, subsystems, and systems. Working closely with other engineers as part of an engineering team. Candidates local to Largo, FL are preferred.
Primary & Essential Accountabilities
- Use FPGA Tool Chains for development and simulation of VHDL HDL designs
- Produce documentation including: hardware design description, block diagrams, and test plans
- Occasional on-site support testing of products, subsystems, and systems in Largo, FL
- Review designs from other engineers and provide critical feedback
- Work collaboratively with other engineering team members
- Provide regular reporting of progress and status
- Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
- Communicate clearly (written and oral)
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Additional desired skills
- Experience with Intel/Altera toolset
- Experience migrating legacy designs
- Architectural decision making between HDL and HLS
- DDS experience
- RFSOC experience
- Electronics design (schematic entry/board layout/library work)
- Electronics integration and test
- Experience with radar, guidance systems or other RF technology
- Experience operating in Scrum, Agile or Kan-ban management systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge
- Ability to work independently
- Novice technical expertise and application domain knowledge
Specialties may include:
Electrical: Involved with the design, development, modification, and analysis of various electronics systems. May include Hardware, Electromagnetic Engineering, Integrated Circuit Engineering, Components, or others. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or systems and makes modifications as needed. Compile and evaluate design and test data. Analyze, develop, and recommend design approaches.
