Summary of Position: (Brief description of overall responsibilities and function)

Responsible for ensuring all aspects of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) are addressed during the certification of the AW609 Avionics & Electrical system. This includes:

  • Direct and Indirect effects of lightning, High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), and system
  • Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC).
  • Accountable for technical certification activities for the AW609 Electromagnetic
  • Environmental Effects (E3) and to show design compliance of the technical solutions designed by the company for the purpose to the FAA certification. As member of the Type
  • Certificate Applicant organization AWPC, work closely with FAA and DER in finding/showing compliance to applicable technical, programmatic and certification requirements.
  • Support Company's  E3 Team to Development of System Specific Certification Plan, Aircraft and System Level test plan/Process and reports.
  • Participate in Full Vehicle Aircraft and System tests, coordinate with stakeholders and suppliers to ensure compliance to E3 rules in support of AW609 Type Certification.
  • Work with the Product Based – USA EAS Manager to ensure alignment with E3 technical objectives, planning and execution of engineering design tasks performed in USA.
  • Provide the technical expertise and guidance for E3 Aircraft, electrical, and avionics protection.
  • To ensures resolution of production discrepancies on Final Assembly Line and
  • To ensures resolution of production discrepancies Experimental Operation Aircrafts, as well as experimental Flight-Testing Telemetry.
  • Perform all the other duties assigned by the Manager.
Job Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialty in Electromagnetics, RF, or analog circuitry.
  • Four to Ten years of experience in a technical leadership capacity developing innovative solutions to complex issues.
  • Ideal candidates can show extensive design experience with EMI filters, circuit layout and analysis for E3, shielding, lightning protection, cable and harnessing design.
  • 3 - 5 years of E3 experience including certification planning and methods of compliance.

Company General Use

  • Demonstrated knowledge of FAA 14 CFR Part 25 and Part 29 Rules.
  • (4) Four years of experience in FAA Certification Processes.

Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Lightning and HIRF Protection of Aircraft and Avionics
  • RTCA and SAE guidance material for lightning zoning, HIRF testing, indirect and direct effects of lightning
  • RTCA DO-160G
  • Demonstrated analytical and design skills. Understanding of modern integrated avionics systems, integrated wiring system, electrical power generation systems, and system safety.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization, ability to negotiate win-win solutions in the presence of conflict and ambiguity, and ability to be a persuasive advocate to internal and external customers.
  • Adaptability in adjusting priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events, mitigating risks and resolving complex issues.
  • Ideal candidates can show extensive design experience with EMI Filters, Circuit Layout and analysis for E3, shielding, lightning protection, cable and harnessing design.
