Welcome to Parker Industrial Process Filtration
At Parker’s Industrial Process Filtration Division, we collaborate with our customers to offer filtration solutions for complex contaminant management issues. Our aim is to enhance product quality and safeguard critical equipment against maintenance issues and downtime.
The Industrial Process Filtration Division directly supports North America. In addition, IPF works with our global Parker Hannifin regional entities to leverage IPF products across the globe.
Position Summary
Position Summary:
This position coordinates the total engineering focus of the Product Engineering department, as directed by staff level management, and transforms the information into a comprehensive plan. The Engineering Manager is to use his/her ability and background and knowledge to guide development of the conceptual information into new products and improvement of existing products. Product designs resulting from this department’s efforts must be profitable, manufacturable and perform well in comparison to competitor products.
Responsibilities
Scope/ Supervision and Interaction: The Engineering Manager must take the lead in directing and delegating resources to meet cost targets, implementation timetables, production support requirements, and field problems with products under his/her control management and administration of the department. Supervises the business unit’s Application Engineers on a dotted line basis.
Liaison includes Product Managers to provide technical support in the area of product design and development; Manufacturing Engineering to facilitate incorporation of current manufacturing practices into new designs and improve manufacturability of existing products; Quality Control to assist in the resolution of manufacturing problems; Purchasing Department to assist in qualification of new vendors and in resolving technical problems with vendors. Maintain an aggressive risk avoidance program when designing new.
Essential Functions:
The Engineering Manager is given the responsibility to improve existing products and develop new product derivatives of existing products, to meet specific requirements; has the authority to utilize the resources at his/her disposal in such a way as to achieve the specific requirements; shall recommend resource allocations and participate in the establishment of specific requirements.
-Direct or delegate the direction for the preparation of complete design layouts, production drawings, model shop drawings, sketches and diagrams.
-Direct the preparation of design concepts to meet product specifications.
-Direct the activities of engineering change control on production drawings.
-Coordinate the activities of supporting personnel (Engineers and Drafters on all projects assigned). Actively support Research initiatives.
-Know and apply current Engineering practices in light of Manufacturing and Quality Control considerations.
-Make efficient use of and help develop relevant standards.
-Supervise the development and maintenance of Gantt charts for projects.
-Participate in the defense of product liability lawsuits when required.
-Make and/or direct the calculations involving engineering sciences (static, dynamics) and other associated subject.
-Direct liaison between vendors and purchasing department when required.
-Support the activities of the Product Managers, Manufacturing Engineering personnel and the Quality Assurance Manager.
-Keep abreast of competitive product lines and spanet developments.
-Perform the administrative functions on budgeting, spending control, salary/performance reviews, capital planning and participate in the tooling program requirements.
-Develop policies and procedures as required.
-Cooperate with Parker E-Commerce Initiatives.
-Support Win Strategy initiatives.
-Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.
-Submit cost reduction/avoidances.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
-Five years supervisory experience; five years design engineering experience.
-Must have structural aluminum knowledge and experience.
-Must demonstrate effective organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
-PC Literate (AutoCAD, Inventor, MS Word, Excel, Access, Project, Lotus Notes preferred).
