Position Summary

The Engineer 2, manufacturing, provides a range of expertise in supporting and improving the manufacturing to produce products.  The ME II will ensure the day-to-day project execution at the manufacturing level, with a broad range of industrial, manufacturing, and mechanical projects. 

Contributes to improving range of fabrication process and that can directly impact the sustaining grown efforts of operations. 

Responsibilities

“CATIA V5R27” experience preferred, “SolidWorks 2021” acceptable, and “AutoCAD LT 2022” a plus.  Ability to read and/or understand technical documents, customer specifications, detailed drawings, and communicate this information verbally and in written form to non-technical associates.  Must have excellent Technical Writing/Graphic creation skills. Ability to querying solid models specified as “model-based definition” and the ability to communicate its configuration verbally and in written form to non-technical associates.Ability to design an efficient Tooling string (build molds, drill fixtures, trim tools, etc.) using a combination of Solid Models, lofting (Mylar®), and dimensional drawings.  Understanding and ability to apply CTE calculations to the tool string. The ability to verify, with Q.A. assistance, the conformity of the tool string. Ability and willingness to infrequently assist in the Repair, Maintenance, and creation of tooling (composite, metal, and rapid prototype) Ability to transfer new products into production from a “design for manufacturability” approach and understand how to influence and implement Built-In Quality in the manufacturing processes.Ability to provide direction and assistance in task completion to lesser experienced M.E. Techs and Manufacturing Engineers. Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies Public speaking/presentation skills required for communicating at all levels of the organization. 

Qualifications

Bachelors in Engineering with 3-5 years of experience or 7-10 years equivalent experience in engineering

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List • Interpersonal skills with ability to work in multi-functional teams, to exact deadlines and often under pressure.• Demonstrated knowledge of problem-solving tools and technique within an aerospace environment, preferred.• Conversant with the suite of Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).• SAP experience preferred• Flexible and prepared to travel on an as-needed basis (5).• Regular, consistent and punctual on-site* attendance. May need to work additional hours as necessary.Environmental & Physical Requirements• Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary RequirementsIncumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 50+ hours each workday doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds.
