Parker Lord is looking for Engineer III, Electromechanical Systems Engineer to join the Electromechanical Systems (EMS) team of the NVH Division. This role is located in Cary, NC. We are seeking a talented and experienced Electromechanical Systems Engineer with a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness, and a strong background in designing and developing complex systems for aerospace applications or other similar highly technical field(s). As a key member of Parker Lords Electromechanical Systems team, the candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of cutting-edge systems that meet the needs of our customers across the entire product lifecycle. In this role, the candidate will lead the execution of and provide oversight of the entire project lifecycle, from architecture development and requirements management to system integration, testing and verification to maintenance and diagnosis of fielded product returns. The candidate will be responsible for leading a cross-functional team of safety, electrical, mechanical, and software professionals to ensure that our systems are not only functional, but also reliable, scalable, and secure. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for leading direct customer-facing interaction. The candidate will solve challenges which extend their and the teams knowledge. Equivalent experience from other technical fields such as automotive or industrial equipment is also acceptable. This position has a schedule of 4 days in the office in Cary, NC and 1 day work from home.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities include systems requirement ownership, the development and implementation of system and systems test platforms, specification of test equipment, and validation/verification procedures. Systems Engineer could have responsibilities either as individual contributor or as project lead.
- Fully Cycle systems engineering
- Develop System requirements from customer requirements
- Develop simulations to understand and validate complex electro-mechanical systems
- Perform analysis of requirements, design and code to assure compliance to standards and guidelines
- Develop and ensure full traceability of customer specification requirements to system and subsystems requirements
- Follow Airborne Systems guidelines per ARP-4754 as well as internal processes and procedures
- Drive innovative solutions to complex problems
- Drive the timely and effective completion of all assigned team and individual goals
- As an individual contributor, the focus is on execution of programs and problem solving
- As a project leader, the focus is on planning and execution by the project team
- Contribute to the generation of new business through proposal responses
- Support business related travel 10 of the year
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer Science/Software or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Or a graduate degree with a minimum of 4 years of work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead at least one (1) large program of high complexity through full product lifecycle involving multi-functional team members, good organizational and program management skills
- Working knowledge of systems engineering with focus on safety critical systems design and development, requirements management with demonstrated ability to generate good (verifiable) requirements impacting multi-functional disciplines. Experience with fully developing Systems related artifacts at the system and LRU level:
- SEPM, TDD, SRS, ICD, SRTM, SCI, Compliance Matrices, Validation/Verification Matrices, Trade Studies, System Verification, System Summary
- Knowledge of aerospace programs and practices such as ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254, DO-160 (or other relevant industry technical equivalents)
- Working knowledge of digital signal processing, controls and dynamic systems modeling and tools such as MATLAB, Simulink
- Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, DNG, JAMA, etc.)
- Proficiency in operating, maintaining and instructing the use of lab-based equipment, leading, conducting and documenting validation testing against both informal and formal test standards to support future qualifications
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated proficiency in presenting data to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to apply and instruct the proper configuration management to requirements through all phases of developing process
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements; identify and implement best practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work in a team environment, good interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven excellence in problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively to identify and resolve complex technical issues
- Strong technical aptitude, analytical and complex engineering problem-solving capabilities
- Proven ability to plan and effectively manage person/team workload
- Proficient use of English language both written and oral
- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications:
The following are not required for the position but will strengthen the consideration of the applicant to complete the teams functional working and capabilities more fully:
- Familiarity with functional safety standards such as ARP4761 and the Safety process (for technical equivalent) and its interaction with systems engineering
- Knowledge of aerospace certification procedures and practices
- Familiarity with subjective and objective analysis of dynamic system performance metrics, (e.g., vibration reduction, control optimization, ergonomic human impact of vibration, etc.)
- Knowledge of reliability assessment and design methodologies for improving reliability
- Demonstrated application with electromechanical systems and/or devices
- Experience in software development for embedded systems, microcontrollers, and/or real-time operating systems
- Experience with C programming language and/or model-based software development (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink)
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering fundamentals and practical application
- Experience with electronics hardware design
- Knowledge of digital communication buses
- Proven record of innovation and IP creation
- Experience working in a matrix organization with multidisciplinary teams
Job Dimensions:
- Independent/Discretion/Latitude: Track record of independently performing non-routine tasks and equipment utilization across entire team and into outside teams. Works with limited supervision. Follows established procedures. Work requires moderate review of soundness of technical judgement, overall adequacy and accuracy.
- Liaison: Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, technical team members, business team and other professionals in the section or group. Exposure to external customer network is required but monitored.
