Engineering Intern

Job Description:

Summary:
The Intern will assist the Engineering Team in supporting existing product lines and new products for the Sarasota Typically Legacy OE, MRO and ATE departments. The Intern would be a part of the team responsible for the support and improvement of existing manufacturing product lines, the sustaining of Design of Existing products, the design of electronics and their test stands including System schematics and PCB design and for supporting product testing in testing Cells.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•tFollow written and verbal instructions to perform tests accurately.
•tIdentifying and solving problems pertaining to design and manufacturing processes
•tEvaluating of the use of non-conforming parts, processes and assemblies to determine their usability in the end product and ensuring that the quality and functionality of the product will be maintained.
•tEvaluating obsolete materials, parts and components and identifies sources for direct replacement including changes proposed by Purchasing and Suppliers.
•tParticipating in developing internal engineering and design validation test programs, participate in testing as needed, and documents results
•tParticipating in document changes in design, bill of material, test methods using CR/CN process.
•tPerforming root cause investigations & participate in supporting and resolving 8D problem solving investigations.
•tDocumenting manufacturing processes through work instructions and process routers including completing time studies of existing and new processes.
•tEvaluating existing and new manufacturing processes and tooling for best methods on new Products.
•tEvaluating existing manufacturing processes, improved tooling, and best methods.
•tParticipating in the strong synergies between entities including foreign entities.
•tParticipating in designing, developing, qualifying, supporting and managing obsolescence of electronic PCBs by focusing on safety, cost, reliability, sustainability and quality.
•tParticipating in a project from the conceptual idea and detailed design to testing, qualification and industrialization, including but not limited to analysis, validation and verification plan.
•tConducting specifications and requirements based design activities.
•tWorking in an integrated program team with representative of quality, supply chain, industrialization, production, sales & spaneting, program, configuration management and other engineering representative with timeline, cost and technical requirements objectives
•tWorking with the test group in our laboratories to define test plans, execution of tests, analyze of test results and tests reports.
•tGenerating 3D CAD models for tooling and fixtures and prototypes using 3D printers.
•tAdhere to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture.
•tOther duties or projects as assigned.
•tRegular, predictable attendance is required.

Job Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:
•\tStudent pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree (or international equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, and/or other similar engineering degrees.
•\tExperience with CAD for 3D modeling and drafting.
•\tMicrosoft Office Skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
•\tEngineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
•\tLean manufacturing knowledge.
•\tStrong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
•\tAbility to read, interpret and apply Engineering Standards.
•\tAbility to read and create electrical and hydraulic schematics.
•\tHands on experience with electrical and mechanical systems.
•\tHands on experience with machining processes.

Physical Demands:
Stationary 50% / Mobility & lifting 50% (up to 25 lbs)

Work Environment:
Equal split between office work and working on the production floor with Programs, Design, Sustaining, Quality, Manufacturing, Testing.
