Primary Function:

Provides support on engineering projects to include planning, scheduling, and performing a wide variety of procedures and experiments to test parts, processes, and materials. Works with engineers to develop new methods and implement major projects.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements data gathering systems.
  • Implements data analysis procedures.
  • Audits the data gathering and analysis processes.
  • Audits process control systems.
  • Maintains charting and postings of data collected.
  • Provides process improvement plans to engineers and supervisors.
  • Designs process-related equipment.
  • Builds or repairs process-related fixtures, specialized tools, and equipment.
  • Carries out designed experiments.
  • Trains operators on process-related topics.
  • Writes work instructions.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Able to read and comprehend English.
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Able to apply concepts of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. (Used for mechanical design probability, process optimization, risk assessment, and prediction)
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and/or the general public.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Able to use Microsoft applications.
  • Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including company’s attendance policy.

Desired Competencies:

  • Associates Degree and/or 6 months to 1 year of training or experience.
  • Forklift Certification

Normal Working Conditions

  • Works under indirect supervision following established practices and clear-cut policies in the performance of the majority of duties. Make decisions when general instructions, established methods and clearly defined precedents indicate action to be taken, but refers unusual problems to superiors.
  • Occasional sitting, walking, driving, reaching above and below shoulder level, climbing, balancing, stooping or squatting, crawling, pushing or pulling, and lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs required.
  • Frequent standing, using hands to handle or feel, hearing, and talking required.
  • Occasional work required near moving mechanical parts, in areas with fumes and/or airborne particles, and areas with loud noise.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
