Position Summary:
Coordinates and directs the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities by performing the following duties personally or through departmental engineers or supervisors. This position’s priorities and duties are 50 project/product management, 30 maintenance, and 20 electrical.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

- Assists the head of facilities and maintenance engineer to plan and formulate the engineering program through project planning, resource allocation and reviewing designs for compliance with Engineering requirements, Company standards, and all related specifications and regulations.
- Provides engineering guidance and support to the Maintenance Departments.
- Evaluates product designs or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
- Drives and supports on major projects such as expansion of facilities, acquisition and installation of capital equipment, major repairs and overhauls, plant layout changes, and other related matters as directed.
- Assists with the preparation of interim and completion project reports including budgets and expenditures along with contracts as required for the construction and acquisition of equipment and facilities.
- Assure department&39;s objectives for company-wide projects are met and documented, including Lean Manufacturing activities, department goals and objectives and targeted metrics.
- Directs and assists other engineers and/or maintenance personnel with Furnace Thermal Uniformity Surveys. Responsible for ensuring the various files are current for the Surveys.
- Reviews reports with all current Engineering department project status, including detailed schedule and budget to achieve completion. Prepares designs for new equipment for review; prepares designs for modifications to existing equipment as required.
- Uses CAD software to document control designs through schematics, single line drawings and panel layouts.
- Works closely with Maintenance and Production Departments to evaluate problems encountered with the equipment and to assist with the solutions required to resolve the problems.
- Works with plant Maintenance leadership to coordinate and train technicians. Training includes scheduling, determining the content of each training session and providing information to conduct training sessions.
- Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
- Assists in implementation of controls for new equipment and the upgrade of controls for existing equipment; also in the implementation of data collection projects.
- Programs PLC and Human Machine Interface devices on Siemens S7, WINCC and Allen Bradley RS Logix, with RS View, at the direction of Electrical Engineers.Troubleshoots equipment as requested by plant Maintenance Supervisors.
- Interfaces with vendors to determine the best equipment to use to keep the company’s equipment at the forefront of technology.
- Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Plans, directs, and records periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.

Required Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, customers, and general public.
- Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude to understand and troubleshoot the machinery with which our control systems interface. Including: Pneumatic/Hydraulic Systems (Valves, Positioners & Feedback Devices)
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry including calculus. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Able to communicate freely, make presentations and discuss controversial issues in a reasonable manner. Demonstrated ability to communicate with various levels of the organization.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in engineering in heavy industrial plant engineering management
- 2+ years of electrical experience and/or training
