Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Industrial Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal Industrial Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA.
The Industrial Engineering Team is an integral part of day-to-day operations and routinely works alongside many of the other organizations here in Palmdale. This is a team that comes together to learn, collaborate, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities will include:
Analyzes lead times, queue times, work-in-process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently
Builds scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow, while incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints
Understands, maps and optimizes critical path product flow through the factory
Develops optimized scheduling tools and aligns SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints
Incorporates complex interdependencies within a system to account for the interaction of multiple cost centers, programs, equipment, and tools
Communicates requirements planning and systems framework with IT, ERP, business analytics, and data science teams
Works with developers to design an interactive user interface that will be effective at scheduling jobs across cost centers
Guides digital transformation efforts to align with sector and enterprise strategies
Leads and drives positive change using iterative and agile methodologies
Creates new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance
Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (Level 2):
Bachelors of Science in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree with 1 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a Master’s of Science in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree with 0 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience
Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance and must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access
Ability to travel at least 10
Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (Level 3):
Bachelors of Science in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree with 4 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a Masters of Science in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree with 3 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree with 0 or more years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience
Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance and must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access
Ability to travel at least 10
Preferred Qualifications:
Real world aerospace manufacturing/engineering experience
Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Formulas: VLOOKUP, INDEXMATCH, IF statements, pivot tables, pivot charts etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Project (scheduling, resource loading, capacity, optimization)
At least 2 years of demonstrated experience leading project teams
Experience with improving manufacturing workflow using optimization, modeling, or simulation methods
Experience with agile methods of project management or development
Earned Value Management System (EVMS) "Gold Card" experience/training
Salary Range: $79,300 - $118,900
Salary Range 2: $97,500 - $146,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
