The opportunity

This position is in a team which fulfils vital introduction to service tasks relating to Apache Program Training – including all substantive roles supporting the establishment of this new aircraft platform. Tasks include qualification mapping, courseware material developmental activities, curriculum revisions and train the trainer support from acquisition into the sustainment phase of the Apache Helicopter Program. This position will be based at the Army Aviation Centre, Swartz Barracks Oakey, QLD.

This is a permanent role with an immediate start date.

As a BDA Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) Level 2, you will provide the full spectrum of ISD skills within a team supporting our customers training requirements on the Apache Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilising Instructional Systems Design skills following a systematic process for the assessment and development of training solutions, designed specifically for the purpose of formal training delivery.
  • Provide training support to instructors and staff through the development of current and contemporary Learning Management System (LMS) training products, including, but not limited to: developing course architecture framework and building online eLearning and assessment.
  • Support any analysis of customer training requirements and develop innovative, relevant and engaging training support solutions to meet their needs.
  • Support the ongoing development of the Apache Training curriculum across all substantive roles.
  • Support all training delivery requirements.
  • Effective engagement with customer representatives and subject matter experts.
  • Support the conduct Apache courseware validation to verify effective delivery standards of all new training materials, devices and synthetic training technologies.
  • Working collaboratively with our Apache Training Team, platform stakeholders and Army customer.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential:

  • Knowledgeable in instructional design methodology (including applying the ADDIE—Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate— model) and multimedia practices and ability to apply such knowledge.
  • Ability to consult, negotiate and maintain effective relationships working independently and within a creative team environment.
  • Practioner level knowledge and experience in the administration and management of online courses within Moodle and/or ADELE or an LMS equivalent, and Objective.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe CC and Microsoft Office applications for the development of training tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis, design, development and evaluation of training (Experience in Training Needs Analysis).
  • Understanding of the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL) or a Defence Training background.
  • Minimum 2+ years experience in Instructional Design.
  • Ability to obtain a NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.

Desirable:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV – Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience or Qualifications in training and digital design.
  • Ability to capture and edit media such as images, video and audio for e-Learning.
  • Experience working within a Defence training environment.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills.
  • Previous experience with Ground Crew Mission Support (GCMS), Ground Crew Aircraft Support (GCAS), Forward Arming and Refueling Point (FARP) and Pilot Training, training design and development support.
