Job Description SummaryThis role is for Lead engineer position in engine mounts team in Advanced Technology Organization of BEC Aviation.
Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensure on-time program deliverables for NPI/Sustaining/ New Technology programs
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
- Responsible to support shops for MRBs, SPSes, Departure Record dispositions, QEM resolution, Directed Dispositions & CIDs to drive producibility improvement & improve OTD
- Has working knowledge of best practices of the relevant domain & competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors/ Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing timing and quality of outcomes.
- Ability to manage priority tradeoffs to optimize program deliveries.
- Ability to mentor/guide young engineers along with own deliverables and program management skills
- Expertise in relevant engineering discipline and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of Cross Functional perspectives and ability to influence and deliver right solutions.
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience in aircraft engine mounts or other structures hardware experience desired
- MRB Certified Engineer in structures Domain preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing & inspection processes, repair methods desirable
- Adaptability to leverage Digital & Analytics tools to drive data driven decisions
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and networks both within GE & with Suppliers
- Demonstrated leadership in problem solving with ownership & self-motivated
- Excellent leadership skills with strong oral and written communication skills.
