Job Description SummaryThe Fleet Management Lead Engineer (formerly Product Support Engineer) will provide technical support to airlines and MRO to maintain fleet safety, reliability and cost of ownership. Interface with GE Aerospace customers as part of daily routine. Is responsible for responding to customer inquiries in timely manner, providing field hardware dispositions, workscope recommendations, and conducting root cause investigations. Identify leading indicators, create and implement field plans. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support of installed CT7 Turboprop (primary) and HF120 (secondary) base including activities such as customer issue resolution, fleet issues, service bulletin implementation, Monitoring & Diagnostics, fleet configuration.
  • Formulating and implementing plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and commitments
  • Providing answers/solutions to technical inquiries and recommending dispositions for hardware in operation via Customer Departure Records
  • Executing with limited guidance the analysis/evaluation of assigned inquiries/projects/CDRs.
  • Developing action plans to anticipate and respond to field problems, conducting root cause investigations.
  • Initiating and executing actions that reduce repetitive field issues
  • Managing assigned module (Repair requests/industrialization, spare parts availability, service bulletin implementation, Leading Indicators, Production support, quality support,  configuration management, service agreement support)
  • Participating as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews (also with GE customers and suppliers)
  • Cooperating with Design Engineering, Overhaul Shops and Repair Engineering organizations in solving field issues
  • Reviewing Repairs and design change (CID) documents in approval cycle
  • Participating in Action Workouts on assigned hardware in overhaul and repair shops worldwide
  • Creating changes to engine maintenance documents
  • Assuring proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
  • In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems.
  • May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • Provides informal guidance to new team members
  • Develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 5 years of experience in an Aviation Engineering, Aviation Product Support, Aircraft Engine Shop Engineering, or Aircraft Engine Manufacturer Engineering position
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • General knowledge of gas turbine engine architecture and operation.

  • Proactive approach to identify solutions quickly and putting together a team of stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Continuous improvement oriented – actively generate and drive process improvements initiatives. LEAN experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in engine repair, troubleshooting, shop operations, and testing
  • Demonstrated understanding of the financial/commercial impact of technical solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and influence peers
  • Experience with airline maintenance and airline operations
  • Ability to perform multi-task assignments effectively
  • GE Aerospace engine product expertise with focus on turbomachinery, Engine Systems or Accessory/Propeller Gear Box will be an advantage
