Essential Responsibilities
Deliver on providing materials application support for both new make and commercial engines in service, which will include materials data analysis, specifications, new material applications, supply chain support, production support and managing materials queries for production and repair.
Provide necessary materials support for root cause analysis and failure investigations.
Provide necessary materials support for mechanical and environmental material testing requirements.
Lead the process development at various suppliers with the responsible MAE having specific hardware ownership including part drawing review / approvals, definition / approval of supplier manufacturing technology plan(s), vendor substantiation evaluations / qualifications, and quality plan documentation.
Partner with design and systems organizations to provide Materials Application Engineering support.
Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelors/ Master’s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials science, Materials engineering, manufacturing or closely related technical field from an accredited college or university
Deep understanding of materials, processes, applications and failure modes.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering position for candidates with Bachelors degree, 4 years for candidates with Masters degree
Deep expertise in one or more of manufacturing process and associated metallurgical aspects for processes such as welding, brazing, casting, forging and machining
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Aviation / Automotive / Aerospace materials and applications
