Job Description SummaryManufacturing Project Engineering position responsible for the manufacturing processes of air starters during the New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle and improvement projects. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role will have autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Self-directed judgment will be required but this is typically with some guidance.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform all related tasks for Tollgate, MRL & PRR NPI development
- Plan, support and execute APQP requirements
- Create, propose, and control project cost (budgets)
- Define and control production processes including tooling and equipment.
- Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment during trials, etc.
- Strive to improve all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost
- Lead improvement projects from concept to completion & assure sustainment
- Drive and lead/cycle time improvements
- Lead and support Low Rate and Full Rate Production
- Design and implement necessary equipment, tooling & fixtures for manufacturing development and process improvements
- Create, maintain and adhere to schedules to achieve metrics/targets
- Participate and Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activity related to concerns that arise during the manufacturing process
- Listen to the voice on the floor, understand the problem, implement effective countermeasures, and assure sustainability
- DFM proposals to Design Engineering with supporting data, propose solutions and oversee implementation
- Manage and lead projects related to manufacturing process enhancement
- Collaborate with design engineering, operations, and quality to improve manufacturability and resolve issues
- Limited travel (equipment run off, supplier visits)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with and/or leading Production Processes and Equipment
Desired Characteristics
- 7+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience working with and/or leading Production Processes and Equipment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and demonstrated leadership skills
- Ability to document, plan and execute improvement activities
- Proven equipment procurement
- Proven root cause & corrective action experience
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Cp/cpk/SPC experience
- Data driven decision making
- High ownership skills with ability to work with limited supervision
- Challenge the status quo
- CNC experience
- PLC experience (Allen Bradley)
- Automation & robotics (Fanuc) experience
